History of the Estate Château Malartic Lagravière

the story of Château Malartic Lagravière

    Exceptional quality throughout the centuries

The Château Malartic Lagravière from the 18th century to the present day

Originally known as Domaine Lagravière, theChâteau Malartic LagravièreIt was acquired in the 18th century by the family of Count Hippolyte de Maurès de Malartic. In 1850, when Madame Arnaud Ricard purchased the property, she added the name Malartic to the Château's name, in homage to the previous owners. She also consolidated the vineyard and added a few small plots. Under the Ricard family, the estate also acquired the exceptional recognition ofGrand Cru Classéboth in red and white during theclassification of Graves in 1953Only six châteaux can boast this double distinction. Château Malartic Lagravière left the Ricard family in 1996 to join theBonnie family, which still manages the estate as a family today. From 1997 onwards, it also began a profound transformation of the château, notably by paying special attention to the vineyard and also by building a new, ultra-efficient winery, one of the most advanced in existence, even today.
