The Bour family
The story ofGrangeneuve Estatebegins in 1964 whenHenri and Odette Bouracquire a charming Provençal farmhouse. Initially consisting of a stone building, a small wood, and fields of grain, it will soon be transformed into a vineyard. It is from 1974 onwards that the coupleBourHe built his winery and began producing his own wine. While the initial intention was to market a négociant wine, Henri Bour and his wife wanted to explore the fruits of their labor more deeply. They then began selling some of their wine in bottles. The success of these "samples" was such that the development ofGrangeneuvecontinued along this path; and without hesitation! WhenHenri BourHe passed away in 1980, and his wife, supported by their three daughters, continued the work he had begun with conviction. Together they developedGrangeneuveuntil 1998 when Henri (the son) took over. When he assumed management of the Domaine, the pursuit of quality became the absolute priority more than ever. To achieve this,Henri Bour(son) brings 2 new stones to the building.
- Initially, he started aging the red wines in oak barrels;
- and in a second stage he begins planting white grape varieties.
- Little by little, through the recognition of the quality of its wines, theGrangeneuve Estategaining in notoriety.
Grignan-les-Ademars
The revival of the Coteaux-du-Tricastin
The nameGrangeneuvegave new prominence to the nameCoteau-du-Tricastin, too often overlooked. Indeed, this name, which originated in 1973, suffered greatly from the installation a few years later of a nuclear complex that took the same name “TricastinEven though a series of analyses revealed no suspicious traces of radioactivity in the vineyard, the proximity of this power plant has always given the appellation bad publicity. For example, in 2008, a series of incidents at the site caused a 40% drop in sales volume for the appellation's wines. Following this,Henri Bourand his colleagues from theAOC Coteau-du-Tricastinasked the INAO (National Institute of Appellations of Origin) the authorization to change one's name. TheINAORecognizing the disadvantage posed by the power plant, the authorities decided to authorize this modification on an exceptional basis. Thus, since the 2010 vintage, winegrowers in Tricastin have been able to use the AOP designation.Grignan-les-Adhemarto market their wines.
