          Chambertin-Clos de Bèze

The Chambertin-Clos de Bèze appellation is produced in the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin in the Côte de Nuits . It covers 14.67 hectares of vines in the northernmost part of the Côte. In the 7th century, the Duke of Burgundy gifted a vineyard to the Abbey of Bèze. From then on, Clos de Bèze became the property of the Burgundian abbey from 640 to 1219, before being ceded to the canons of Langres. In 1937, the appellation was officially designated a Grand Cru by decree. This Grand Cru is one of the nine Grand Cru vineyards of the Côte de Nuits.

          • Terroir

The appellation's soils are sloping and composed of clay and limestone. At the top of the hills, one finds brown soils, silt, and gravelly scree. Only red wines are produced within the appellation. The entire vineyard is planted with Pinot Noir. The vineyard benefits from protection from westerly winds, which often bring rain. It also benefits from northerly winds that ventilate the vines.

          • The style of the wines

The red wines of Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze are intense, refined, and elegant. They are renowned for their complexity and excellent aging potential. The style of Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze wines distinguishes itself from other Chambertin wines with a more supple and delicate texture, and the increased refinement and complexity of its wines. Generally, one notices hints of licorice and flowers on both the nose and palate. It is recommended to age bottles of this Grand Cru for between 10 and 20 years, depending on the quality of the vintage. This bottle aging will allow the full complexity of the wines to be revealed.

          • Key areas:

Domaine Bouchard et Fils is a Burgundy institution, particularly in the heart of the Côte d'Or. Founded in 1775 by Joseph Bouchard, the estate originally consisted of just a few vines in Volnay . Over the years, the family expanded its vineyards. Today, the estate comprises 450 parcels across 130 hectares of vines, covering almost all of Burgundy's appellations. All these parcels are cultivated with the utmost care by the estate team: the grapes are hand-picked into small crates to prevent crushing, then meticulously sorted twice. The estate produces a Clos-de-Bèze cuvée that impresses with its intensity, elegant structure, and rich texture. A great wine for aging.

Domaine Faiveley is located in the heart of Burgundy's wine country, between Dijon and Beaune in Nuits-Saint-Georges. Historically based in the capital of the Côte de Nuits , the Faiveley family has gradually expanded its estate and now owns parcels in some of Burgundy 's finest vineyards. In the Clos-de-Bèze appellation, the Domaine offers its grand vin in very limited production. It is vinified with a masterful balance between power and elegance.

Domaine Robert Groffier Père et Fils is located in the Côte de Nuits, in Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny . The 8 hectares of vines are cultivated in the purest Burgundian tradition, with respect for the terroir and the environment. Nicolas Groffier , at the helm of the estate, crafts great wines of incredible elegance, perfect for aging. The estate's Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru is an exceptional cuvée. Its aromatic profile is sensational, with aromas of small black fruits, spices, and a touch of minerality and floral notes. The wine is remarkably elegant, powerful, and refined.
