    Notes and pairings

    Notes and pairings

    Tasting notes

This Pinot Noir boasts a brilliant ruby-red color. On the nose, it reveals a complex bouquet of fresh red fruits and black cherry, enhanced by delicate spicy and floral notes. On the palate, the attack is supple and elegant, with silky tannins and refreshing acidity. The finish is long and persistent, leaving a most pleasant fruity and mineral imprint. A balanced and harmonious red wine.

    Food & wine pairings

It will perfectly complement grilled salmon, roast duck or sautéed wild mushrooms.

    Producer

THE domaine is not limited to a single site, but operates a mosaic of vineyards located in the cooler areas of Sonoma County: Russian River Valley: Known for its "Goldridge" silt soils, providing texture and elegance. Sonoma Coast: Sites closer to the Pacific Ocean, where fog and maritime freshness allow for slow ripening and vibrant acidity. Carneros: On the southern border of Sonoma and Napa, ideal for more structured wines. Production is limited and highly prized by collectors (often sold via a very selective allocation list). Unlike la cuvée Whether it's "Elizabeth" or "Cuvée Natalie", the 'Kistler Vineyard' comes from plots located on the hills west of Sevastopol. These are vines that face directly onto the Pacific Ocean, which gives the wine a very pronounced mineral tension.

    Owner and history

Kistler Vineyards is one of California's most prestigious and iconic wineries, often described as the pioneer of the "Burgundy" style in the United States. Founded in 1978 by Steve Kistler and Mark Bixler, it has achieved a status of domaine "cult", particularly for its top-notch Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs. From the outset, Kistler sought to prove that Californian terroir could produce wines with the finesse and complexity of the great wines of the Côte de Beaune or the Côte de Nuits.

    Vinification and aging

Founded in 1986. At just under 550 meters above sea level, in a small cirque on the western slope of the Mayacama Mountains, lies Kistler's original vineyard. Forty-year-old vines, cultivated without irrigation, flourish in deep red volcanic soils, giving rise to a wine that intensely expresses its mountain terroir.
This vineyard, perched on a ridge, offers breathtaking views of the coast on one side and the Russian River Valley on the other. Laguna Ridge rests on layers of sandstone, granular sediments, and fragments of petrified wood. Since 2006, it has produced Laguna Ridge Pinot Noir (formerly Kistler Vineyard). This wine is distinguished by its balance and concentration, and by an impressive, precise energy that unfolds over a core of deep red and blue fruits, with subtle mineral notes and delicate, expressive varietal aromas.
