The unique La Rocca vineyard is located on the slopes of Monte Rocchetta, behind the château A medieval vineyard overlooking the town of Soave. Benefiting from a unique microclimate, it produces a wine of great character, with a distinctive and inimitable bouquet. Innovative since its creation in 1978, it has established itself in the region, becoming an undisputed symbol of quality and tradition.

Owner and history

The Pieropan family, owners of the domaine, is deeply attached to its land and traditions. It is a purely family and historical management. After the death of the visionary Leonildo "Nino" Pieropan in 2018 (the man who proved that Soave could be a very great wine for aging), his sons Andrea (agronomist) and Dario (oenologist) took up the torch alongside their mother, Teresita.

Vinification and aging

The vinification of the Soave Classico La Rocca 2020 is carried out with care in order to preserve the purity of the aromas and the freshness of the fruit.

The 2020 vintage offered ideal conditions for the Garganega grape variety, allowing it to reach perfect phenolic ripeness while retaining the characteristic mineral brilliance of the domaine.

Winemaking: Pieropan's Expertise

Harvest: Very late harvest (end of October) to obtain sun-golden grapes.

Livestock farming: Unlike la cuvée classic in stainless steel, La Rocca is aged for 12 months in oak barrels (500 litre barrels and 2000 litre casks).

The little secret: The wine remains on its fine lees, which gives it its volume and exceptional aging potential.

The team's opinion

"La Rocca" is the absolute masterpiece of the Pieropan family. It is the wine that proved to the world that Soave could rival the greatest wines of Burgundy. Unlike the majority of Soave vines which grow on volcanic soils, the La Rocca vineyard rests on an outcrop of chalky limestone (rare in the area), which gives it this exotic texture and legendary longevity.
