Notes and pairings

Tasting notes

The wine is a deep, almost violet red. The nose opens with aromas of black cherry, raspberry, and sweet spices, with delicate floral notes. On the palate, the attack is direct, revealing a beautiful tannic structure, supported by a refreshing acidity. The finish is long and elegant, leaving a mineral and fruity imprint that invites contemplation.

Food & wine pairings

This wine pairs perfectly with coq au vin or a mature cheese like Brie de Meaux.

Producer

Producer

Clos de Vougeot, a Grand Cru vineyard, covers 50 hectares in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. The soil is primarily composed of clay and limestone, promoting excellent drainage and optimal grape ripeness. The temperate, oceanic climate allows for a beautiful expression of Pinot Noir aromas, while also providing balanced acidity. The vines, some several decades old, are carefully cultivated to guarantee the quality of the grapes, essential to the production of this exceptional wine.

Owner and history

Today, Domaine Faiveley is run by the seventh generation of the family. The current owners, Erwan and his father François Faiveley, perpetuate the family tradition while incorporating modern practices. Their commitment to quality and respect for the environment is reflected in their sustainable viticulture. They work with passion to enhance the estate's international reputation, while preserving the heritage and authenticity of great Burgundy wines.

Vinification and aging

The vinification of the 2022 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru follows traditional methods. The grapes are carefully hand-harvested and destemmed before being placed in vats. Fermentation takes place in wooden vats, allowing for gentle maceration and optimal aroma extraction. The wine is then aged in oak barrels, some of which are new, for 12 to 18 months. This maturation process adds complexity and structure to the wine, while respecting the terroir's identity. The blends are carefully crafted to ensure the harmony and balance of the cuvée.
