The Domaine Georges Vernay vineyard is situated on steep terraces, typical of Côte-Rôtie, where Syrah finds an ideal environment to flourish. The soils, composed primarily of schist and granite, impart a unique minerality to the wines. The continental climate, with Mediterranean influences, promotes optimal grape ripening. The vines, averaging 30 years old, are cultivated using sustainable practices that respect the natural balance of the soil and the vine. This approach results in healthy, concentrated grapes, guaranteeing the exceptional quality of the wines produced.

    Owner and history

Today, the estate is managed by Christine Vernay, daughter of Georges Vernay, who has taken up the mantle with passion and determination. She has successfully combined tradition and innovation, respecting the family heritage while bringing her own vision. Christine is known for her attention to detail, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. She works daily to enhance the terroir of Côte-Rôtie, ensuring that each vintage tells the story of its soil and climate. Her commitment to quality and sustainability makes Domaine Georges Vernay a leading name in the region.

    Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Domaine Georges Vernay is a meticulous process, respecting tradition while incorporating modern techniques. After the grapes are hand-harvested, they are destemmed before being placed in vats for alcoholic fermentation. This stage is followed by extended maceration to extract color, aromas, and tannins. The wine is then aged in oak barrels, some of which are new, adding complexity and roundness while preserving the pure expression of the terroir. Finally, the wine is bottled unfiltered to retain its full aromatic richness.
