Have you ever had the chance to taste the wines of François Chidaine ?
If you haven't already, I encourage you to cellar them, forget about them, and serve them at a special occasion. Not to mention the very attractive prices of each of the vintages produced by this master of Loire Chenin Blanc, the tasting of Chidaine wines is a moment of intense pleasure.
Chidaine wines: memorable tastings
I had the opportunity to serve his wines for the first time at a tasting in Réunion: already the Cuvée les Tuffeaux in demi-sec largely supported local gastronomy and its spices.
I recently served this vintage 2009 vintage on a Thai soup with shrimp, coconut milk, ginger, and lemongrass, and it was a pure delight for the senses! The wine exuded... aromas of candied fruit and citrusIts dense, fresh, and creamy texture enveloped the palate with unparalleled sweetness and length, effectively tempering the subtle heat of the spices. The bottle didn't last long, and all my guests still remember it.
THE dry wine vintages are also magnificent and provide indescribable pleasure with the grilled or sauced fish.
Wines that are, however, too little known
It must be said that François Chidaine possesses a real mastery of the biodynamics and its wines are rights, elegant, costs, open, with that extra creaminess sometimes offered by the great Chenin Blancs of the Loire, unfortunately too little known.
I like the wines of Chidaine as much as the wines of its neighbor Huet in Vouvray. Chidaine is without any context, one of the popes of Montlouis, just like Jacky Blot's Taille Aux Loups.
From one bank of the Loire to the other...
But here's the thing, François Chidaine, president of theMontlouis appellationlocated left bank of the LoireHe also owns 10 hectares of vineyards which he bought about ten years ago in Vouvray, the other emblematic name of the Tours region. So on the right bank of the Loire.
