THE Château Angélus 2025 — aptly named “ The Irresistible " — is an icon of Saint-Émilion.
Led by the duo Hubert de Boüard de Laforest And Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal, the 2025 vintage of Château Angélus perfectly embodies what we felt during our tasting at the estate: a wine that defies expectations of a sunny vintage with its striking freshness, precision and natural balance. Harvested over a short window in mid-September, this vintage benefited from clay-limestone soils which mitigated water stress, as well as deeply rooted vines which maintained a remarkable balance throughout the season.
Since 2019, the property has refined its approach towards greater precision, and this is fully reflected here: a finely adjusted assembly approximately equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the latter reaching an exceptional level of aromatic expression. Despite conditions that might suggest strength, the wine naturally settles at around 13.5% alcohol. Without exaggeration, this is a vintage that reconciles maturity and restraint, constructed with clarity and designed for aging.
