    Notes and pairings

    Tasting notes

The 2012 Clos Apalta Vinotheque boasts a deep, almost black color with purple highlights. The nose reveals an intense bouquet blending ripe black fruits, oriental spices, blond tobacco, and notes of finely toasted oak. On the palate, the wine is dense and velvety, supported by silky tannins and an impressive structure. The finish is long and persistent, marked by great freshness and remarkable aromatic depth, the hallmark of a wine built for aging.

    Food & wine pairings

This great red wine pairs perfectly with game in sauce, a matured rib of beef or a tournedos Rossini.

The Clos Apalta vineyard unfolds in a natural amphitheater on north-facing slopes near Apalta, in the heart of the Colchagua Valley. The granitic and colluvial soils, interspersed with clay and pebbles, offer optimal drainage and a refined expression of the terroir. The vines, some over 90 years old, are cultivated organically, with meticulous handwork, guaranteeing exceptional raw materials and a natural concentration of aromas.

    Owner and history

Founded by Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her husband Cyril de Bournet in 1994, the Casa Lapostolle estate aimed to produce world-class Chilean wines with the exacting standards of Bordeaux. Leveraging an exceptional vineyard and sustainable practices, the family has elevated Clos Apalta to the ranks of great international wines. Their vision of an authentic, structured wine that respects its environment continues to inspire contemporary Chilean viticulture.

    Vinification and aging

The Casa Lapostolle estate pays meticulous attention to every stage of winemaking, combining modern techniques with respect for tradition. The grapes are harvested by hand, carefully sorted, and vinified by gravity, grape variety by grape variety, in truncated conical wooden vats.
For the Clos Apalta Vinotheque 2012 vintage, the aging process lasted 26 months in new French barrels, ensuring perfect integration of the wood and remarkable aging potential.
