Located in the heart of Chile's Aconcagua Valley , the Seña estate embodies the excellence of South American winemaking with a visionary approach initiated by Eduardo Chadwick in partnership with Robert Mondavi. Chile's first iconic wine, Seña was born from a clear ambition: to produce a wine on par with the world's greatest vintages, combining exceptional Chilean terroir with Bordeaux winemaking expertise. Situated on hillsides with diverse soils and benefiting from a Mediterranean climate tempered by the Andes and the Pacific Ocean, the Seña estate is distinguished by its profound, precise, and elegant wines. An absolute benchmark in Aconcagua.

    Notes and pairings

    Tasting notes

Seña 2019 reveals an intense purple robe with garnet highlights. The deep nose expresses aromas of ripe black fruit, sweet spices, cedar, and tobacco. On the palate, the attack is ample, supported by a robust structure, silky tannins, and great freshness. The finish is long and persistent, marked by notes of graphite, licorice, and dark chocolate. A powerful and refined wine, built for aging.

    Food & wine pairings

This wine pairs perfectly with a grilled rib of beef, duck breast with figs or a spiced lamb tagine.

The Seña vineyard is located in the hills of the Aconcagua Valley, 40 km from the Pacific Ocean. Its soils are alluvial and colluvial, rich in volcanic rock, providing excellent drainage and complexity. The climate, moderated by sea breezes and the Andes Mountains, allows for slow and complete ripening of the grapes. Cultivated biodynamically, the vines produce low, concentrated yields, ensuring optimal quality for the estate's noble grape varieties.

    Owner and history

Eduardo Chadwick, heir to the Errázuriz family, is the visionary behind Seña. He co-founded the project in 1995 with the legendary Robert Mondavi, sharing the ambition to create a "Grand Cru of Chile." Now solely at the helm of the estate, Chadwick continues his exacting commitment to biodynamic practices and absolute quality. His pursuit of excellence and sustainability positions Seña as one of the jewels of modern Chilean winemaking.

    Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Seña relies on rigorous grape selection, plot-by-plot fermentation in stainless steel tanks, and gentle manual punch-downs. The wine is then aged for 22 months in French oak barrels, 70% of which are new.
For the 2019 vintage, this approach allows the richness of the vintage to be expressed with balance and precision. The wine gains depth, subtly integrating the woody aromas and revealing a noble and persistent tannic structure.
