To begin our journey into the world of appellations, our choice fell on Pomerol.

A relatively small appellation in size, it boasts an extraordinary density of highly renowned estates. Producing wines of exceptional aging potential...it is undoubtedly with Pauillac, Hermitage And Chateauneuf du Pape the most famous name in the world.

With its 780 hectares, the Pomerol appellation is one of the smallest wine appellations on the right bank of Bordeaux. Located on terraces overlooking the Isle, a tributary of the Dordogne, the soils are particularly well-drained and composed of deep deposits of gravel, sand and clay.

The vineyard dates back to the 12th century under the aegis of the Order of the Knights Hospitaller of Saint John of Jerusalem. This religious influence is also reflected on several labels, featuring Maltese or Templar crosses.

Merlot is the king of grape varieties in this appellation and makes up 80% of the wines. It is supported by Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, or Malbec.

The wines of Pomerol are genuine wines for agingwhose aging potential can range from 10 to 40 years old depending on the vintage. Remarkably fine, The wines offer a silky and velvety structure. while exhibiting tannic power. They are rich, opulent and after aging offer complex aromas of red and black fruits, violet and truffle.

There are approximately 130 wine producers in this appellation, whose properties are relatively small (6 hectares on average). The largest being the Château Gazin with 26 ha. These wines are in very high demand regardless of the vintage.
