the story of Domaine Philippe Livera

The history of Domaine Philippe Livera

Rigour in the service of excellence

Originally founded in 1920, Domaine des Tilleuls, now renamed Domaine Philippe Livera, is located in the heart of the village of Gevrey-Chambertin. Today, Damien and Hélène Livera, Philippe Livera's children, manage the estate. This 8.5-hectare property primarily cultivates Pinot Noir. There are no Premier Cru vineyards here; the vines are all located in the Côte de Nuits surrounding the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation.

Since 2007, this family estate has distinguished itself through the distinctive character and aroma of its wines. These two talented winemakers drew inspiration from the style of their prestigious neighbors, such as Claude Dugat and Arnaud Mortet. They continue the tradition of excellence passed down through generations by the finest estates of the Côte de Nuits and have masterfully elevated Burgundian Pinot Noir.

The terroir of Domaine Philippe Livera

In the lands of prestige

The wines of Domaine Philippe Livera are a journey in themselves. Thanks to meticulous work in the vineyard, the wines demonstrate precision, depth, and remarkable purity. Pinot Noir is the sole grape variety cultivated here, along with a small plot of Chardonnay (approximately 20 ares). The vines benefit from an exceptional terroir, complemented by winemaking practices that adhere to the highest standards. The full typicity of the terroir is thus expressed, and this is what distinguishes this family-run estate in the market. Domaine Philippe Livera offers all the hallmarks of great Burgundy wines. All these elements give the wines a beautiful character and, above all, great aging potential.

The winemaking process at Domaine Philippe Livera

The constant pursuit of excellence

Domaine Philippe Livera cultivates its vines using sustainable farming practices. This approach aims to minimize the use of harmful external substances. The vineyards are predominantly planted with Pinot Noir. Regarding fermentation, Damien and Hélène favor long fermentations, and the wines are then aged in oak barrels for 11 to 18 months. Domaine Philippe Livera is constantly striving for excellence, producing wines with aging potential, while remaining true to tradition and adapting to current winemaking trends. The wines are elegant, silky, and above all, express their finesse. The estate produces fine Burgundy wines, such as a Grand Cru from Gevrey-Chambertin, Chapelle-Chambertin. The range also includes village appellations such as Gevrey-Chambertin, Fixin, and Côte de Nuits Villages.
