Producer

Producer

THE domaine owns plots in some of the most prestigious "Crus" of Piedmont: Bricco delle Viole: The family's favorite vineyard. It is one of the highest terroirs in Barolo. It produces a wine with notes of violet, rose and red berries, with a finesse reminiscent of the greatest Pinot Noirs. Coste di Rose & Ravera: Terroirs that bring structure and a saline minerality. Baudana: Located in Serralunga d'Alba (another village in the appellation), this vineyard produces more powerful, deep and masculine Barolos.

Owner and history

Officially founded in 1972 by Aldo Vaira (who reintroduced the old spelling "Vajra" with a "j"), this domaine Today, it is run by Aldo, his wife Milena, and their three children. It is one of Italy's most beloved estates, renowned for its kindness, discretion, and the crystalline purity of its wines.

Vinification and aging

Among Barolo's historic vineyards, Bricco delle Viole is the highest and closest to the Alps. It rises between 400 and 480 meters above sea level on the western ridge of the village. Its name, "Violet Hill," comes from the flowers that bloom early there, thanks to its ideal south-facing exposure. Above the mist, Bricco delle Viole enjoys the earliest sunrise and the latest sunset every day.

Thanks to this pure light, a significant diurnal temperature range and the age of its vines, planted in 1931, 1949 and 1968, Bricco delle Viole produces a deep Barolo, with brilliant aromas, chiseled tannins and subtle minerality.

The team's opinion

A Barolo of rare elegance, which reveals the nobility of Nebbiolo and the magic of the terroir of Bricco delle Viole.
