THE Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Chalumeaux" 2019 Domaine Comtesse de Cherisey is a haute couture wine, the very expression of Chardonnay sculpted on limestone. The Terroir: The Elegance of Altitude THE climat "Les Chalumeaux" is located on the border of Meursault, just below the hamlet of Blagny. Geology: The soil here is very stony, with a thin layer of clay on a compact limestone slab. Exposure: The vines of the Comtesse de Cherisey on this cru are very old (some planted in 1945), which brings a natural depth and concentration that young vines cannot offer.

THE domaine, Run by Laurent Martelet and his wife Hélène (a descendant of the Countess of Cherisey), the estate is located in Blagny, a hamlet nestled high above Meursault and Puligny. It is one of the best-kept secrets among lovers of great white Burgundy wines. Representing the sixth generation, Hélène and Laurent Martelet rigorously orchestrate the implementation of the interventions necessary to reveal the exceptional terroirs of the Hameau de Blagny. Passionate about nature and lovers of working outdoors, the team at Domaine Countess de Cherisey dedicates herself daily to meticulous work, with the utmost respect for the vine and its ecosystem. Gardener of the domaine, It implements the essential sciences of agrobiology.

Vinification and aging

THE domaine COMTESSE de CHÉRISEY strives to preserve the animal and plant biodiversity that surrounds it. The transition to organic farming, the natural grassing of certain plots, investment in forestry, the restoration of dry stone walls, and the protection and planting of trees and shrubs are all actions contributing to a better future.

Furthermore, the domaine cooperates with research and development organizations such as the IFV. Thus, for the past 5 years, research programs aimed at better understanding the role of endemic species such as bats or blue tits in the vineyard ecosystem have been conducted.
